Outboard Policy

Protecting the Integrity of National Comp

* Outboarding refers to the practice of hosting, sponsoring, or promoting any unauthorized event, social gathering, content session, meeting, demonstration, presentation, or other activity in connection with National Comp—whether at other hotels, restaurants, nearby properties, within the convention center, or via offsite or virtual platforms—during the week of the event, in order to capitalize on its audience without the prior written consent of the event organizer.

As the premier event in the workers’ compensation industry, National Comp—organized by The Institutes, a non-profit organization— invests substantial financial and operational resources to deliver a top-tier conference and expo. Our sponsors and exhibitors play a crucial role in this success, and their contributions deserve protection.

We kindly ask that you decline invitations to activities that conflict with official National Comp activities and report any violations to show management. Sanctioned events will proudly show the ‘National Comp Supporter Badge’. Unsanctioned events held by non-exhibitors undermine the integrity of our conference, devalue the investments of legitimate stakeholders, and create an unfair competitive landscape.

These events exist solely because of National Comp, yet companies that are not listed as exhibitors or sponsors seek to benefit from the platform without contributing. This ‘piggybacking’ diminishes the collective efforts of our industry and detracts from the experience we work hard to provide.

Thank you for your support in maintaining the integrity of National Comp and ensuring a fair and valuable experience for all participants.
